Growing awareness for adoption research.
The Rudd Adoption Research Program at UMass Amherst needed to translate complex adoption research into accessible public communication that could grow awareness and support. The concept leads with a large, bold sans-serif typeface (Gotham), interlaced with a minimal modern Gotham and Chronicle. The color palette features three primary colors plus a base black and light grey, producing secondary colors in overlapping areas. The marks explore shifting petals — the overlap showcases community and collaboration, while the outward-stretching petals demonstrate growth, flight, and agency. Different sizes and styles denote the variation in experience and roles involved in adoption, research, and support. The petal and overlay graphics afford a wide array of creative applications, from purely expressive to structural and functional containers for text, images, and graphics.
Scope: Brand Identity, Print Media, and Digital Strategy for Education. Deliverables included brand boxes (typography, color, marks, patterns), business cards, and a full brand system.
